Dat has been a full time mathematics teacher since 2006. He has worked in both Catholic and State Schools and has held a range of leadership roles in all five schools, which include Professional Learning Team Leader for Mathematics, University of Melbourne Network of Schools (UMNOS) Assistant Success Coordinator, Numeracy Coach, Numeracy Leader, Head of Mathematics, Learning Leader of Mathematics and Leading Maths Teacher.
Dat is currently the Leading Maths Teacher at Williamstown High School where he works closely with the Mathematics Curriculum Leaders at the Junior and Senior campuses to improve student outcomes.
His practice is informed by a belief that learners have the greatest influence over their learning. Dat is an advocate for using real world events as a foundation for students to relate to and value mathematics.
